Labyrinth

by Sage Cohen

Mercy is an infinite loop
walked barefoot.
You can’t do it wrong.

Relax into the pattern.
Let the small stones penetrate.
Linger longer than you know how

to listen. As the story unfurls
from your clenched fists
let it go. You were born

to become whole.
To love beyond convincing
To walk for the pleasure of walking

all the way to the center of your life
where the stone stands
for all you cannot solve

for the safety he couldn’t give you
tor the trust you couldn’t give him
for the truth disguised as wound.
